Return & Refund Policy

We want you to love your copy of Colombian Emeralds / Esmeraldas de Colombia. If something isn’t right, this policy explains how returns and refunds work.

Eligibility window

  • You may request a return within 14 days of delivery.

  • Once your return is approved, please send the item back within 14 days of our instructions.

(For EU/EEA/UK customers, this aligns with the legal “cooling-off” right for distance sales. For customers outside the EU, we voluntarily offer the same timeline.)

Condition of returned items

To be eligible for a refund, the book must be unused and in resellable condition: no writing, highlighting, bent corners, stains, or other wear. If applicable, please return any protective wrapping. Items not meeting these conditions may be refused or refunded partially.

Return process

  1. Email contact@colombianemeraldbook.com with subject “Return request – Order #XXXX” and include your reason (and photos if damaged).

  2. We’ll reply with return authorization and the return address in Lyon, France.

  3. Pack the book securely; include the order number inside the parcel.

Please do not send a return before receiving our authorization.

Who pays return shipping?

  • If the item is undamaged and you are returning by choice (change of mind), you cover return postage.

  • If the item arrived damaged, defective, or we shipped the wrong item, we will cover or reimburse reasonable return postage. Please provide photos within 48 hours of delivery.

Refunds

  • We issue refunds to your original payment method after we receive and inspect the return.

  • Processing typically takes 5–10 business days from receipt of the parcel.

  • Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error (wrong or defective item).

  • For international orders, any customs duties/taxes paid locally are not refunded by us; you may inquire with your local customs office about reclaim procedures.

Exchanges

We don’t offer direct exchanges. If you’d like a different item or a replacement, please place a new order; we’ll refund the returned item once processed.

Wrong address / unclaimed parcels

If a parcel is returned to us due to an incorrect or undeliverable address or failure to collect, we can either:

  • reship (additional postage applies), or

  • refund the item price minus the original shipping cost once the book is received back in good condition.

Order cancellations

  • You may request a cancellation before shipment; if the order has already shipped, please follow the return process above.

  • Pre-orders can be cancelled before dispatch; once shipped, the standard return policy applies.
